Giving Circle Spotlight: Fleur and Forage— Care, Connection, and Healing in Community

by Sagdrina Brown Jalal, Community Food Systems Strategist

Earlier this year, we introduced the organizations selected to receive support through the Sage D Giving Circle. As we move into the final months of the year, another group of recipients is preparing to receive their funds: Step Ahead Scholars, Green Clothe, Fleur and Forage, and Carrie’s Warehouse.

Their work looks different from organization to organization, but each reflects the kind of community-rooted work the Giving Circle was created to support. The funding is intended to strengthen the organizations behind that work, giving them additional resources to sustain what they are already doing, respond to the needs of their communities, and build greater capacity for the work ahead.

This quarter, we are taking a closer look at Fleur and Forage, a recipient of a Sage D Collective Giving Circle Grant. The free holistic health clinic serves people experiencing homelessness across Atlanta and Athens, setting up each month at community meal sites, foot clinics, and wound care locations to provide herbal remedies, foot care, and wound care at no cost. Fleur and Forage also supports the people who make this work possible by creating opportunities for its volunteer community to learn and connect through book clubs, continuing education, and retreats. Giving Circle funding will help the organization sustain this work while adding administrative support to strengthen the day-to-day operations needed to serve its communities and continue growing.

As the final Giving Circle funds make their way into the community, we are looking forward to seeing what each organization will grow, strengthen, create, and sustain with this support.
